At-home Viewing FAQs
Many 2021-2022 events have an at-home viewing option (live stream) available. This alternative is not a separately-produced show, and is not intended to be a full replacement for the in-person experience.
If you can't find the answers you're looking for in the FAQs below, or need any assistance,
please contact the A&L ticket office.
They're available and answering questions Monday-Friday, 10 AM-5 PM, with extended hours (open until 30 minutes into the show) on event days.
Which events will be live streamed?
View a list here
or apply the "At-home Viewing Option"
filter on the Events page of the A&L website. Check back periodically, as more live stream options may be added over the course of the season.
How do I purchase tickets for a live stream?
There are no separate tickets for the live stream. When you purchase a regular ticket for an event with an at-home viewing option, your seat is yours – and you get to choose whether to attend virtually or in person.
Tickets can be purchased
in person at the A&L Box Office, or by phone at (805) 893-3535. You may be asked to set up a website login at the time of purchase, which you will need for live stream access.
Can I buy live stream tickets for a friend or family member?
Live stream access is attached to the ticket purchaser's account. It cannot be shared with anyone that will not be viewing on the same device or is not part of the purchaser's household account.
If you wish to gift live stream access,
please contact the ticket office.
Will the live streams be interactive?
Due to limited staffing, chat and Q&A functions will not be available for the at-home viewing options this season.
When do I watch the live stream? Will there be a recording?
If an event has an at-home viewing option, the live stream will occur simultaneously with the in-person event.
The event will not be recorded, and there is no replay option.
The webpage where you view the stream will be available a few days prior to the event. Please see the "How do I watch?" instructions below for more information.
How do I watch?
View the live stream on a computer, laptop, phone, tablet – any device with a browser and internet connection. For the best viewing experience, we strongly recommend having a good internet connection and making sure your browser is up to date.
Once online, go to the
Virtual Events page
of your Arts & Lectures account and log in. (Note: live streams are not available via the A&L mobile app).
Events with an at-home viewing option are listed by purchase date, not event date, and access to specific event pages will be available a few days prior to each broadcast.
Click the "View Content" button to be taken to the viewing page with the embedded video player.
We encourage you to try the above steps at least a day or two before your event, to ensure you are able to log in successfully and that you see your event listed. Please also plan to log in at least 5-10 min prior to the live stream to confirm your video and audio are working properly.
* If you purchased your tickets through the Granada Theatre, please contact their box office in advance at
firstname.lastname@example.org for live stream access. If you purchased tickets through the Arlington Theatre or AXS,
please contact their box office in advance at (805) 963-4408 for live stream access.
What if I don't see my event listed on the Virtual Events page of my account?
What if I don't remember my Arts & Lectures login?
If you don't remember your password for the A&L website, use the "forgot password" link on the
If you are unsure what email address is connected to your account, please
contact the ticket office.
(DO NOT create a new account online; a new account will not be associated with your original ticket purchase, and therefore won't grant live stream access.)
What if I can't hear any sound when the live stream starts?
If the video is playing but you don't hear any sound, please review the following:
- Refresh the browser page. If an "unmute" button appears when you tap/click on the video, make sure to select "unmute."
- Check that the video, your computer, and the browser are all unmuted and at an audible volume.
- Clear your browser history/cache/cookies or try a different browser. (Chrome and Safari are recommended)
What if my video freezes during the live stream?
If you have issues with the video or audio dropping due to a slow internet connection, try lowering the video quality by selecting the settings/gear icon at the bottom of the video. If that doesn't work, try refreshing the page in your browser. (You may need to log in again after refreshing the page, so have your credentials handy.)
If you continue to have trouble, contact the ticket office at (805) 893-3535. They are available and answering phones 30 minutes into each event.
