How do I purchase tickets for virtual events?

Tickets can be purchased online or by phone at (805) 893-3535. If you purchase a virtual event by phone, you may be asked to set up a website login, which you will need for viewing the events online.

Virtual Events

Virtual events have limited capacity; buy early to guarantee a spot. Ticket prices are subject to change.

Can I buy tickets for a friend or family member?

Virtual event tickets are attached to your A&L account, so it is not possible to share them with others who will not be viewing on the same device. If you wish to gift a ticket for a virtual event, please contact the ticket office at (805) 893-3535.

I’m a UCSB student. How do I get a ticket at the UCSB student price?

Most virtual events are free for UCSB students. UCSB students must register or "buy" a $0 ticket to be able to access a virtual event. Students must be full-time and currently-enrolled, and enter a perm number and umail.ucsb.edu email address at the time of purchase.

How do I get tickets for the Special Gratitude Concert with Sheku and Isata Kanneh-Mason?

If you purchase a ticket for any House Calls event, you are invited to be our guest at a special gratitude concert on Nov 22 with Sheku Kanneh-Mason and Isata Kanneh-Mason. Please contact the ticket office at (805) 893-3535 if you would like a complimentary ticket for this event.

I was sent a printed or digital ticket for a virtual event. How do I use it?

An actual printed or emailed ticket is not needed. Printed or emailed tickets for virtual events can be ignored. We apologize for any confusion.

Can I get a refund if I missed my event?

While A&L's live event policies this season are flexible, tickets for virtual events are non-refundable.

Accessing Virtual Events

Where can I find my virtual events?

Virtual events are viewed via the A&L website, and can be accessed from any internet browser on your computer or mobile device. (Note: virtual events cannot be viewed on the Arts & Lectures mobile app at this time.)

  • Step 1: Go to www.ArtsAndLectures.UCSB.edu
  • Step 2: Click the "Log In" button located in the upper right hand corner of the website.
  • Step 3: After logging in, click the "My Account" button in the upper right hand corner of the website.
  • Step 4: Once you've reached the "My Account" page, click the "Virtual Events" link on the left side of the page, and your ticketed virtual events will appear.
  • Step 5: Click the "View Content" button next to your upcoming event, and enjoy!

It is strongly recommended that you try logging in to your Arts & Lectures account at least a day or two before your event, to ensure you are able to log in successfully and that you see your event on the Virtual Events page.

What if I don’t remember my Arts & Lectures login info?

If you don’t remember your password for the A&L website, use the "forgot password" link on the login page.

If you are unsure what email address is connected to your account, please contact the ticket office at (805) 893-3535. (Do NOT create a new account online; a new account will not be associated with your virtual event purchase.)

What if I don’t see my virtual events under "My Account?"

If you follow the steps listed under the "Where can I find my virtual events?" question above and still do not see your virtual event on the "Virtual Events" page, please contact the ticket office at (805) 893-3535. (Do NOT create a new account online; a new account will not be associated with your virtual event purchase.)

Watching Virtual Events

Stream your virtual events on a computer, laptop, phone, tablet - any device with an internet connection. A strong internet connection is highly recommended for the best viewing experience.

When can I start watching my event?

Access to the virtual event page begins on the date listed for each event. The live stream will begin at the time listed for each event. If you are late, you will not be able to view what you’ve missed until the event has completed. On demand viewing will be available for most virtual events; some exceptions may apply.

Can I watch a virtual event after the posted time? If so, for how long?

On-demand access to virtual events is available to ticket holders for 48 hours post-event for most performances, and 7 days post-event for most lectures. Some exceptions may apply; please refer to the specific event page on the A&L website for details. We recommend watching live to take full advantage of online chat and Q&A opportunities.

Can I watch on my phone or tablet?

Yes. Watch by opening a browser on your device, logging in to your Arts & Lectures account, then selecting "My Account" and "Virtual Events."

How can I watch on my television?

There are several options for watching on your TV. We recommend testing these options well in advance, so you’re ready when the event begins.

  • HDMI from computer to TV - most desktop and laptop computers have an HDMI port that you can connect directly to your TV. Connect the HDMI to your TV prior to booting up your computer to avoid sync issues. Once connected, use your computer browser to access your events from the Virtual Events page of your Arts & Lectures account.
  • AppleTV – "Airplay" from iOS devices or "Mirror" from your Mac browser.
  • ChromeCast – "Cast" from the Google Chrome browser on your PC or Mac.
  • SmartTVs – Find more information on mirroring to your TV at these links – FireOSRokuTVAndroidTV

How do I use the chat function?

Below/next to the video player is a chat window. Please use it to say "hi" and share your excitement for the event! You may be prompted to enter your name in order to start chatting.

Can I hide the chat?

Yes, click the three dots in the upper right corner of the chat window and select "minimize." When you want to view the chat again, click the speech bubble icon.

How do I submit questions for the artist/speaker?

Use the "Ask" button at the bottom of the chat window to submit a question for the artist/speaker. You can also view and vote for other people's questions. Exit the Q&A window to get back to the chat.

How do I make the video full screen?

The video player has a button in the lower right corner so you can toggle to full screen. Note that if you view the video full screen, you will not be able to see the chat/Q&A window.

What do I do if my video freezes?

If you experience any issues with video or the chat/Q&A function during a live stream, try refreshing the page in your browser. It is recommended that you have your login information handy, in case you need it after refreshing the page.
