Health & Safety Protocols for In-person Events

Updated 1/14/2022

Protocols for attending in-person events are developed in conjunction with evolving state, local and university health guidelines. A&L staff, artists, speakers and volunteers are also required to fully follow protocols. Please check this page regularly for updates, and make sure your current email address is on file with the A&L Ticket Office for important communications.

  • Proof of Full Vaccination Is Required for Entry.
Proof of full vaccination will be required for entry to all indoor A&L events until further notice. "Full vaccination" means a final COVID-19 vaccine dose was administered at least 14 days prior. Unvaccinated patrons, regardless of age, will not be permitted inside the venue.
  • Beginning February 4, 2022 all patrons must also have been administered a booster shot if eligible. Consult the CDC for eligibility guidelines.
  • Masks are Required Indoors at All Times.
All patrons must bring and wear their own face covering that fully covers both nose and mouth with ear loops (or similar) to hold it securely in place. N95, KN95, KF94 or FFP2 face masks are strongly recommended. Bandanas, gaiters and masks with external valves are not permitted. Face shields alone are not adequate protection. Mask-wearing is also strongly encouraged in outdoor spaces.

Acceptable Forms of Vaccination Documentation Include:

  • CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card (physical card or digital photo) plus a state-issued photo ID* that matches the vaccine record.
  • State of California Department of Public Health Digital COVID-19 Vaccine Record plus a state-issued photo ID* that matches the vaccine record. (Digital vaccine record must include recipient name and vaccination dose dates).
  • UC Santa Barbara students, staff and faculty can present their daily green UCSB COVID-19 Clearance Survey Badge. (Clearance email not accepted; badge must be displayed via the UCSB Student Health portal.)
* Photo ID is not required for minors who are accompanied by an adult.

Unvaccinated audience members with medical or religious exemptions must show documentation of the exemption, along with proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 48 hours of arrival. The test must be from a state-approved lab/testing provider. Rapid over-the-counter or at-home tests will not be accepted.

If you are unvaccinated and do not have a documented exemption, please contact the A&L ticket office in advance to discuss your options. Many events include an at-home viewing option with purchase.

Know Before You Go

Before You Arrive
  • We recommend parking and arriving at the venue at least one hour prior to the event, as there may be lines to enter the facility due to vaccine verification.
  • For events at Campbell Hall and elsewhere on the UCSB campus, be sure to review the parking updates below.
  • Bring your proof of vaccination and photo ID and have them ready to display when you arrive. Make sure your tickets and face mask are readily available as well.
  • A&L makes every effort to begin events at the published start time. Patrons who enter the venue after an event has begun will not be seated until an appropriate point in the program determined by the artist.
  • If you are sick or have been experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, have been in contact with someone known to be or suspected to have been infected with COVID-19 within the last 10 days, or are subject to a quarantine or isolation order, please stay home and contact the A&L Ticket Office in advance to discuss your options. (Note: many events have an at-home viewing option.)
When You Arrive: Proof of Vaccination (POV) Check Stations
  • Proof of vaccination (POV) check stations will be located outside of the venue, separate from the venue’s box office/will-call and prior to ticket scanning. See above for approved forms of vaccination verification documentation.
  • POV check stations will open approximately 90 minutes prior to the event time.
  • Doors to the venue will open approximately 30 minutes prior to the event time.
  • Wristbands will be provided following proof of vaccination check, allowing you to leave the area prior to the event and return without having to go back through the check line.
Inside the Venue
  • Face masks must be worn inside at all times (including throughout the event), in accordance with state, local and university policies. See above for more information about appropriate face coverings.
  • Food and drink will not be sold inside the venue until further notice. Concessions may be sold outside the venue at select events, to be consumed outdoors.
  • Digital programs will be available for all A&L events, and can be accessed from the event reminder email or by scanning the QR code at the venue on your smartphone. Some printed programs will also be available in the lobby. All patrons are asked to silence their phones and darken their screens during the presentation itself.

At-home Viewing Options

Many 2021-2022 events include a live streaming alternative. When available, ticket buyers can decide whether to watch at home or in-person; live stream tickets are not sold separately. Live streams will not be recorded or available for replay or on-demand viewing.

Ticket Policies and Info

UC Santa Barbara Parking Update

  • A permit is required to park on campus. If you are attending an event at Campbell Hall or elsewhere at UCSB, purchase a visitor permit on arrival from one of the permit dispensers in the parking lot.
  • New this year: your license plate number will be required when you purchase a parking permit.
  • Select campus parking lots allow you to purchase a permit on your phone using the ParkMobile app. The permits are lot/zone-specific; purchasing a ParkMobile permit before arriving and securing a spot is not recommended.
  • The A&L Ticket Office is no longer able to sell parking permits. If you have any unused visitor/short-term permits from previous years, those will be honored for the next couple months.
  • Not all campus parking lots are open for visitor parking. Visit the Transportation & Parking Services website for more information.
